When diet is wrong medicine is of no use.
When diet is correct medicine is of no need.
~Ayurvedic Proverb

Practicing Yoga asanas is one of the most beneficial regimes, but when complemented with the healthy food habits, it can really create wonders. In fact, eating the right food is an essential part of living a Yogic life as whatever we eat it energizes us.What we eat not only influences our physical well-being but our emotions and thoughts as well. Ayurveda is the text that elaborates on food, its classification and the type of energy it provides. It is one of the UPVEDAS. Ayurveda does not dissect food into proteins, carbohydrates or fats, instead it classifies them according to taste (sweet, bitter, salty, sour, pungent & astringent) and the energy one gets from them and how one’s mind gets affected by that energy.
Yoga is the way that teaches one how to use one’s energy in such a way that one should be able to live one’s life to fullest while keeping one’s negative mind and thoughts under control. Ayurveda and yoga are interlinked with food. To have a healthy body and mind these three elements of Yoga, Ayurveda and balanced diet are a must to practice.
